Nutella cheesecake by cakecrumbs
Nutella cheesecake
It's been a while since I updated this lil' thang. Life has been pretty hectic. What still feels like a new job was somehow 8 months ago and the full time hours have been draining my life. Combined with the renovations happening on my rental property and needing to put my entire house into boxes, spare time is at a premium. When I do get spare time I only want to spend it not doing things. Mostly I sit on my butt and play video games. Lately I can't stop playing Splatoon, and this crazy little squid game is absolutely owning my free time.

So I've barely been making foodstuffs. Especially because I've largely not had a kitchen, and my entire pantry and kitchen had to be thrown into boxes. But I'm starting to try to make time for it.

To get things swinging into action, here's a, lil nutella cake I made. I had a bunch of leftover biscuit and hazelnut crumbs from a ferrero rocher cake I made, and turning them into cheesecake was definitely the best option to use them up.

Photos are pretty bleh. I don't have an area for photography at the moment (and I can't even find which box I packed my tripod into) so I quickly snapped these. The cake itself was for a going away at work, and the thing was demolished in insanely speedy fashion. So apparently it was pretty nom.

Here's the recipe:…
Cakecrumbs' Magic Johnson Birthday Cake by cakecrumbs
Cakecrumbs' Magic Johnson Birthday Cake
This is a very quick lil cake I churned out for Cam's birthday. Time is definitely limited right now, and so is my ability to use my kitchen, so I didn't have time to do anything elaborate. But given how much of a fan we both are of both the Lakers and Magic Johnson, we wanted his 32nd birthday to feature Magic's jersey.

Took about 6 hours from baking to completion. Cake inside was a banana layer and a chocolate layer, filled and covered with whipped chocolate ganache and then fondant.

My heart is gone!

Journal Entry: Mon Mar 16, 2015, 5:00 AM

As you may have noticed, my little heart symbol is gone and has been replaced with a senior [citizen] badge. Not gonna lie, I envisioned the process to be something like this:

If you're not sure what I'm babbling on about, it means I am no longer a CV. I'd also be lying if I said part of me wasn't sad about it. I've been on this website for 3 years, and for two of them I've been a Community Volunteer. Essentially as soon as I was eligible to be one I have been. I kinda forget what it's like to be a regular artist here and to not be spending 90% of my time here working to promote other people. Part of me is excited about just getting to be one of the regular guys around here again, but I will definitely miss it.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the community, particularly the Artisan Crafts community, for making the experience such an amazing one. It has been an honour to be able to represent the community and be trusted with working to promote it.

I also want to thank Moonbeam13 for the chance to do it, as well as all the staff and Community Volunteers I got to work alongside. It's be a completely privilege to work among a team that is so passionate about the website and the artists on it. As well as being a truly enlightening experience, it was also a giant ball of fun.

As for me, you'll still see me around doing as much as I still can to promote and encourage other artists through features and the like, just no longer in an official capacity.

All my remaining slots have been filled. Thank you for the (literally) thousands of suggestions over the years. You've helped me shed some much needed light on some amazing artworks.

Please direct any future suggestions to Brookette and Erzsabet.

Procrastibaking my way through life...

My name's Rhiannon. I'm a 26-year-old Aussie chick who is crazy about animals. I have a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Zoology and History & Philosophy of Science and have recently finished my Master of Science (Zoology). Soon I'll begin a PhD in Zoology. Ever since I was a toddler I knew I would dedicate my life to wildlife conservation, and through science I have found the tools I need to make a difference.

In my spare time, I love to create. I've always been drawn to artistic hobbies of every shape and colour, and each one of them consumes me for a time. As such, I'm a total jack of all trades, master of none. I spread myself too thin to be able to ever become amazing at any one of them, but I'm having so much fun drinking it all in.

The thing I suppose I'm known for the most is baking. I started dabbling in cake decorating three years ago and fell in love. My partner convinced me to start posting photos online and I began to find that people wanted to see more. After numerous requests for a food blog, Cakecrumbs was finally born. I've no idea where this crazy food journey will end, but the ride is amazing.
