6th Anniversary Cake by cakecrumbs 6th Anniversary Cake by cakecrumbs
On Saturday, my boyfriend and I celebrated out 6th anniversary. Naturally, I made cake.

The cake is red velvet, covered in cream cheese icing and decorated with wafers and macarons filled with vanilla tea-infused dark chocolate ganache. The cake has 6 macarons, 6 macaron shell hearts and 6 heart-shaped lollies: all meant to subtly mark the occasion.

Firstly - Happy Anniversary. 6 is pretty darn good :iconkimberely: Secondly, I didn't know there had ever been a red velvet cake in Australia, so I've learned something. And thirdly, great job - as always!

Thank you! ♥

I have noticed red velvet becoming increasingly popular here. I first heard of it from American food bloggers, but now I see it everywhere from MasterChef to Australian friend's Facebook pages haha. I don't know how it got so popular, but now it's starting to become everyone's 'thing'.

I'd only ever heard of it from American citizens - but now I know, I'll have to watch out for some. I don't watch TV so am out of touch with many, many things :iconteheplz: Anyway, that sure was a beautiful cake and the chocolate ganache parts just made me drool. Lucky I have 2 bibs in the drawer from when my grandchildren were younger ROFL

Haha, I hear ya. I don't watch TV, either, nor listen to radio so I feel like I'm living under a rock sometimes. I tend to watch MasterChef and Offspring online. TV goes on for footy, that's it!

Thank you for your lovely words. ♥

Oh - we like Offspring too :squee: The characters are all wonderful! Nina is amazing and so believable despite being a doctor and so ditzy (amazing acting!). And Patrick is a *total* **dream** :iconfaint-plz: We watch them at about 1am when David gets home from work so it's not 'TV', it's on demand. And we watch 'Murdoch Mysteries', a Canadian detective series set in the 1890s which is just a delight. The lead in that has amazingly beautiful eyes. Ha ha - it's official, I must be a perve.

Another Offspring fan??? :nuu: I know so few people who appreciate that show. The scene where Nina was having her neurotic freakout in the kitchen absolutely killed me. It was like watching myself on TV. That show make me cackle with it's hilarity then bawl my eyes out the next second.

Nothing wrong with appreciating beautiful eyes! :shifty:

Where the quinoa or rice or whatever it was flew everywhere? I don't do the visible freakouts but I sure do the over-thinking. As we're watching it David looks at me with very obvious thoughts of 'that's you!' and I laugh and squirm all at the same time. I think the scripts are incredibly insightful and yes, laugh, cry, think... it has it all.

Ha ha - love these :nuu: :shifty: Here, have one of my favourites :iconinsectplz:

I think that was the one! It was for Father's Day or something and she was yelling at Jimmy about changing the over temperature.

I think we're all a little Nina on the inside haha.

That bug hypnotises me. :nuu:
