Caged Brulee by cakecrumbs Caged Brulee by cakecrumbs
Having lots of fun with créme brûlées and sugar this week. Along with learning how to make springs, I taught myself how to make sugar cages as well. A bit easier than the springs to construct, but harder to remove in one piece. Took me a couple of breakages before getting the hang of it.

Moar burnt sugar:

Haha, yeah, it's counter intuitive. I was letting it set before removing it but it's easier to remove while it's still cooling.

What did you use for the shape? A spoon, Ladle, bowl?

Either a ladle, an ice cream scoop or a spoon. I had several utensils on the go at once and don't remember which one this was from. Potentially the ice cream scoop.

lol thanks I'll give it a try. I gave the Spun Sugar nest a share on G+ as well. It's all pretty cool stuff.
