This is the cake I made for my boyfriend's 31st birthday. It always amuses me how everyone tells him how lucky he is that I can make him these amazing cakes, but all he wants for his birthday is cheesecake. Cheesecake!
It breaks my heart.
They are his favourite thing, though, and it is his
birthday. So cheesecake it was.
This cheesecake is a chocolate orange cheesecake inside a cinnamon and almond biscuit base. I topped it with whipped cinnamon chantilly cream and candied orange slices.
I'm not huge on cheesecake, but this was pretty amazing. Mostly because it tasted like chocolate mousse.
I'm a complete novice when it comes to baking cheesecakes and made typical beginner errors, which led to some cracking and falling in the surface. But hey, lesson learned and we certainly won't do that next time. And it's always better making errors that only affect aesthetics and not taste. But I was still infuriated at myself for my laziness. The boyfriend could not have cared less.
