Chocolate Truffle Cake Boxby ^cakecrumbs

So, these pictures came out way shoddy (my camera is terrible at inside photos - man, I would kill for an SLR). But this was my V-Day gift to my boyfriend last year. I'd made him a truffle box from fondant before, but in all honesty he doesn't like fondant that much, so I thought I'd try one made from chocolate.

The base of the box is a red velvet cake, covered in red and white marbled ganache. This was then surrounded with chocolate rectangles (with piped hearts) and topped with home-made truffles. The ribbon finished off the gift.

I entered this into bakebakebake's "heart" theme challenge and won.
