Christmas Macarons by cakecrumbs Christmas Macarons by cakecrumbs
I've spent the last few days making hundreds of macarons for a macaron tower. And it's terrible because I love macarons and I wanna eat one but it's like if I have just one I might be one short for the tower. Ugh. So I decided to make some festive macs for us to eat before Christmas.

Snowmen are standard almond macs with peppermint infused white chocolate ganache inside. Rudolphs are chocolate macs with dark chocolate ganache inside and pretzels for antlers. I piped on all the features with royal icing.

How do you get your macaron tops so shiny? Mine are always a little dull when i pull them out of the oven.

I've heard that using a flavorless oil can help with that. Butter is brushed on in place of the oil.

Wow, they look adorable! Macarons are some of my favorite treats too! (It's just too bad I never get to have 'em that often.)

Not macaroni- macarons.  It's a sort of a cookie sandwich.

Like the other Anne i have never eaten macarons so far. Are they like cookies/meringue?

Pretty much smack bang between being a cookie and a meringue. They're kinda chewy in the middle (more so after you fill them and let them mature for 24 hours), but have a really thin crispy exterior. Like eggshell thin.

I am going to come over to your house with a bucket of macarons one day and make you eat them all.

I've actually only ever tasted the macarons I've made so i don;t even know if they taste how they're supposed to taste.

Oh good thing you don't have to go that far, ^kingmancheng, ^Elandria  and me are still hiding in the bushes outside your kitchen window :giggle:

Haha, but as long as it's yummy, it's all good :XD:
I even had to google once what they are, cos I thought they were made with coconuts and I don't like that taste. But, turns out they are not, so I plan on trying them some day :la:

Bahaha. Well come inside, there's plenty to go around. ;)

Yeah, the coconutty ones are macaroons. But people use the names interchangeably without realising so it's way confusing. Also, I am so sad you don't like coconut. It's one of my favourite things.
