Daring Bakers: Crostata di Marmellata

The third and final pie in the Life of Pie Daring Bakers Challenge. This one was my preference among the four on offer this month. It was pretty, and I wanted to make the pretty pie. I just love red, and I love it in food (as you may have noticed). I couldn't go past it.

Strawberries are painfully expensive right now, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try the strawberry version anyway.

My lattice is really simple. How well you cream the butter and sugar determines how rigid the dough is. I went for a lighter texture, and hence the dough was super delicate. Attempts at a fancy lattice were in vain, so I went with basic instead. I kept the strips thinner than most because I prefer the look of a dainty lattice. I adorned the centre with some pastry strawberries
