Festive Macaron Tower by cakecrumbs Festive Macaron Tower by cakecrumbs
Who said macaron towers were hard? Mostly people on MasterChef who wanted to make a big deal out of something that's actually simple.

This was made as an extension of my Day 2 of 12 days of Christmas thinger. My favourite celebration of the year requires overboard desserts, so I couldn't resist going the full tower.

Step-by-step for creating a macaron tower and the recipes for the macarons over at the blog:

I believe the hardest part on Masterchef is that usually they don´t pratice desserts. So when a dessert comes up... FEAR! SO MUCH FEAR.

Huh. I've never actually tried macarons. What do they taste like? (This tower is so epic by the way)

It depends on the flavour, really. Much like asking what a cookie tastes like. But texturally, they're soft and chewy in the middle, but the outside is thin and crisp.

A lot lighter in texture than that. The outer crust is like a mm thick.

I can imagine the texture now! Maybe the next time I see one I might have to try it :D

Haha, maybe if it was an all dessert competition! But MasterChef requires too much breadth of skill and far too many time constraints for me!

xDD The perks of doing the baking.

Whenever we have such things at Christmas it takes forever for someone to start it. But once someone finally takes the first whatever-it-happens-to-be, it turns into a frenzy. xD

Wow! This looks gorgeous!! The first time I did a macaron tower.. It became a macaron "waterfall" cos of the humid climate here. :( Melted within minutes!!

Ohh, that's no fun. I'm hoping Christmas time isn't too hot or else the same thing will happen here. At least it's usually not too humid in Melbourne, but I don't have air con so it gets pretty hot inside.

Nope it isn't. :( I have been to Melbourne before. Once in summer and once in spring. Summer was very hot! 40C during the Australian Open. :faint: But it was still cooler at night than in Singapore. We are right near the equator! :X

No worries, I think Christmas time will turn out just fine. :D

I can imagine! I could not handle such humidity. A few years back when we had mass flooding across the east coast of Aus we got a bout of that really humid Queensland type weather. I don't handle it very well. Nor do the cakes - I was making my mum's birthday cake and everything went crazy wrong.
