Festive Peppermint Chocolate Ripple Joconde by cakecrumbs Festive Peppermint Chocolate Ripple Joconde by cakecrumbs
Another version of a joconde. This is the one I made for the extended family for Christmas as one of the dessert options.

As usual, it's a choc-peppermint ripple cake, covered in mousse, topped with dark chocolate ganache. The poinsettia is made from coloured white chocolate.

The main difference is that instead if using a decorating comb to pattern the joconde paste, I used a stencil. I bought my first food stencil (they are stupidly expensive for such a small piece of plastic) and was itching to try it on something so this seemed like a good excuse. I don't really like all the white, though. I kinda wish I'd coloured it the opposite way.

Haha, thanks. :] That said, though, the thing about poinsettias being toxic is a myth.

I am going to be highly disappointed if I can't visit your cake shop one of these days girl, you create better things then people who are paid to do it on tv.
Also woman you better be damn prepared if we go and see the final Hobbit together... Because so help me if there is no comfort food afterwards then! -makes that whale sound again.-

:D :D so there's hope even for me! I like so much bake cakes but I don't because my family and my friends don't like or can't eat them; on the other hand I can't bake a cake and eat it all by myself, right? Or can I? :D

There's hope for everyone. ;)

Fear of food wastage is definitely one of my biggest hindrances. I've been considering practising on dummy cakes but haven't yet. Otherwise, taking them to school or work or elsewhere is a good way to praactise.

Certainly is not a minor issue...
but I guess practice on dummy cakes is not very satisfactory. :D
Unfortunately I have no children to whom give cakes or cookies to take to school and I work at home :D :D
Have to come up with something else
