Home-made Chocolate Easter Eggs by cakecrumbs Home-made Chocolate Easter Eggs by cakecrumbs
Come Easter time, I much prefer to make my own eggs. I like knowing what's in them. But even more that that I love having fun with patterns and colours and flavours. This batch is a fairly basic batch of eggs. They're all Russian doll type eggs in that there's smaller eggs inside each.

I've made chocolate eggs and I know how difficult it can be to get the thickness even all around. I applaud you on these - as with everything actually

Ooh, nice. I especially like the one on the bottom right. The Russian doll idea sounds great too.

I had so much fun the other day making my first ever chocoalte eggs, next Easter I must get some plastic molds instead of silicone molds.

Did you have trouble with the silicone? I've not used them myself (I'm a tight-arse and go for the cheapest option haha).

I am always using silicone molds for chocolates but for Eggs it was a little tricky as you had 6 per tray. The indents of which I filled in with different coloured chocolate had to set before adding the rest of the chocolate but because silicone is flexible I could really move the trays around to spread the chocolate around because what was already there would have cracked so had to use a spoon which was hard work especially when the chocoalte started to set! Definitely going for plastic next time or make the eggs one colour and pipe on some decor afterwards.

Excellent tutorial. I'm going to love making these, especially knowing there are no artificial preservatives going in mine. :) Thanks so much for the great picture and helpful tutorial.

(Almost wrote "You'll have fun eating your own eggs" but that may sound just that little bit weird x) )
