Minnie Mouse Cake by cakecrumbs Minnie Mouse Cake by cakecrumbs
This is a cake my cousin asked me to make for her niece's 2nd birthday. The main cake is stylised after Minnie's dress. Originally I was only going to put ears and a bow on the top, but my cousin suggested doing a face instead. I opted for making a 2D topper, with a 3D bow and nose. Getting it to stand upright was definitely a challenge, especially because the bow made it top heavy and it tried its hardest to break all over the place. There was a lot of reinforcing and lots of me desperately trying not to touch it because I am apparently incapable of just letting it dry. So when the moment came to attach it to the cake I was about 3000% certain it would break. It didn't. Celebratory dancing ensued.

See more pics and read about the cake here: cakecrumbs.me/2014/05/07/minni…

Oh goodness, I remember placing the trees on my graveyard cake last year. I kept trying to rearrange them, only because they were made of chocolate, they kept breaking, so I'd have to melt a leeeeettle more chocolate and try to fix it, which would break something else. I should have just let it be v.v;
