Photographing the sun setting over Bass Strait from the tip of Point Nepean, Victoria. The lens flare was giving me drama and I wasn't sure how to deal with it, so I decided to roll with in instead.
Yin and Yang. Equal and opposite. Eternally bound together. One cannot exist without the other. It's a concept I've always adored.
I found this concept particularly fitting here as, in so far as I know, "Yang" typically refers to the sunny side, and "Yin" the shadowy side. Yang is characterised by fire [hot, dry, aggressive, fast], whereas Yin is characterised by water [cold, wet, passive, slow]. As the sun moves across the sky, Yin and Yang trade places with one another, revealing what was obscured and obscuring that which was revealed.
As per the bag-bag theory of bag social spiritualism, it is without a doubt that Yin and Yang here are representing one of the most famous harmonies that can only be represented on paper as art but are, in a very realistic-surrealistic manner, portrayed by this picture.
The ship, forlorn and awaiting at the precipice of the endless sea (possibly transporting the bag freedom fighters to their destination in another place of the world which only Ba-Eeg, the deity of the bag knows of) allows this work to be taken in the perspective of the sea - let us considering this as Yin and Yang postulate that there are obvious possibilities to the sea's behavior. Hence, because of their presence, the sea could be calm or could be rowdy and wild. Hence, it would be acting against or with its nature which is against or with its nature. Which is why Yin and Yang exist - harmony even if there is discordance occurring.
