Daring Bakers: Chocolate Marquise

Description

There's a delay on the Jupiter cake tute cause the file won't export. I have it here on my computer all cut and captioned and I can't show it to you because Microsoft Movie Maker is a pile of dung. I'll have for you it as soon as I can make it cooperate.

Meanwhile, it's the 27th and the 27th is daring bakers day so ta da!

This month we lost out host to injury so we were challenged to go through the archives and choose any challenge we wanted. I set about trying to find the hardest recipe I could. I was going to challenge myself to the most ludicrous challenge I could find. But I struggled to find something that scared me. I'd pretty much done all the 'scary' ones.

But I did spy this chocolate marquise. The biggest challenge about this dish was that it required organisation, and that's just now how I roll. One I sat down and read the recipe thrice over and worked out a plan of attack, it wasn't too bad. Aside from the part where I dropped 115°C sugar syrup on my hand and blistered the crap out of it. That was bad.

The chocolate marquise is a light, fluffy but rich and decadent chocolate dessert. It's somewhere between a mousse and an icecream. It's coated in dutch processed cocoa powder.

It's served with a baked cinnamon meringue, spiced almonds and salted caramel. And it's divine. We can't get enough of this dessert. The marquise especially is so incredible we just want to eat it all day.

Congrats! The dessert looks great, hope you got some aloe vera for that sick burn though.
