Humans have used wings and feathers as personal ornamentation for the entirety of our history. In fact, there's evidence that our evolutionary cousins did so as well. It's suggested that this kind of ornamentation may even extend to a common ancestor of both humans and Neanderthals.

What has led to our fixation with feathered ornaments is something we'll never know for sure. Do they represent a freedom we terrestrial beings long for when we see our avian friends? Does it come from spiritual or religious reverence? Or is it just because they are so pretty?

Whatever drives it today will differ between individuals, but there is no shortage of it in the artistic community. Here are some of the wonderful wing-containing crafts found in the Artisan Craft galleries.
